Looking at american muscle cars and not sure about LHD?

Currently, any left-hand drive vehicle can be imported if it was made before January 1, 1989, as long as it's not highly modified. Cars of this age group can be road registered in Australia as LHD. So all those gorgeous corvettes, camaros and mustangs of the 60's and 70's and 80's, dont hold back, go for it right or left hand drive!

Any left-hand drive vehicle made after 1989 must be converted to right-hand drive within 12 months of landing in Australia and can't be driven until its converted.

Never driven LHD? You would be surprised but most people find in 5 minutes they no longer notice it!

Torana muscle car classic for sale. Like alot of cars it was sold unregistered but driven to town for rego checks on a UVP. It got its share of attention even with 4 doors, not surprising as it was a feature in early 80s street machine magazines.

Yes you can, so long as your new club car or weekend cruiser meets the basic roadworthy safety requirements as set out on the UVP application page of vic roads.
Your U what? UVP is unregistered vehicle permit.

For those long time car guys and motor heads this is old news but to any newbies or those experienced car guys never put in this situation before its fantastic news. Driving your new baby home is the best way without doubt!

It literally takes 5 minutes online or a 5 min phonecall if you prefer and its done. Drive away.
As far as I know every state has them.
For Victorian residents simply click here to order your UVP and follow the prompts. I promise its really quick and really easy. All you need to get one is:
- basic car make color etc
- vin or chassis number ( and its savvy enough to deal with older cars that dont have the modern 17 number vins)
- credit card
- make sure the car meets their requirements which they outline as you go.

Each state is slightly different in costs and limits etc but in general one week is about $50 in Victoria. You can get them for single trips or for up to a month to allow for multiple trips for rego purposes
